Metis Will Integrate Chainlink to Connect Educational Data to Their Blockchain-Based Learning Platform
We’re excited to announce that Metis-edu will use Chainlink’s industry-leading decentralized oracle network to securely connect a wide range of educational data to our blockchain-based learning platform. The goal is to use external data as a means of tracking and storing the performance quality of participants. The data can then be used to determine the value and automate the distribution of various financial incentives that encourage learning.
Our initial integration will focus on leveraging Chainlink to broadcast student attendance data on-chain, which is used to distribute Metis (MTS) tokens to students that reach a 100% attendance rate. Next, we will look to provide on-chain data regarding performance ranks given to educational providers, resulting in an immutable index for evaluating the quality of institutions, instructors, and tutors. Chainlink oracles will then dynamically update NFTs that represent educational providers with their new rankings. Since each NFT represents profit sharing in a particular educational provider, increases in the educational provider’s ranking and popularity will lead to increases in the revenue earned from owning that particular NFT.
Metis: Creating Incentivized and Transparent Learning Environments
Metis-edu is a blockchain-based learning platform where anyone in the world can quickly sign up to study a wide variety of educational courses, including everything from languages to new skills. Traditional academic curriculums are rigidly designed, offering little customization for each unique individual learning style, ultimately making it difficult for students to learn. Metis provide an innovative solution by leveraging Artificial Intelligence to automatically customize educational content for each student based on their personalities and interests.
Metis-edu will offer premium content in partnership with TCP School — which provides famous E-Learning services for language and coding — as well as JungAh Moon Chinese and MYPOOL. In the future, anyone will be able to participate as a tutor or instructor to encourage more diversified content. The Metis (MTS) token powers our learning platform, offering students discounts on courses, enabling governance proposals for tutors, and even tutor profit-sharing.
Why Metis Need Chainlink Oracles
Metis-edu is a data driven platform, where data insights are used to customize learning in a manner that enhances students’ ability to succeed. These insights are fed into our blockchain-based platform which both stores historical records of performance and automates payment incentives between various stakeholders. However, there is one fundamental problem, most of the educational data needed to do this is not on the blockchain itself. Thus, we require an additional piece of instructure known as an oracle to interact with these outside systems and retrieve the data stored within them.
After reviewing various oracle providers, Chainlink stood out as being the most secure and fully-functional oracle solution to suit our unique requirements. Not only is Chainlink the most widely used oracle network in the industry, but it has a long track record of successfully securing billions of dollars in value for blockchain-based applications. It’s success is driven by it’s unparalleled combination of security and flexibility.
In terms of security, Chainlink uses a decentralized oracle network made up of numerous independent oracle nodes run by leading blockchain DevOps. This results in there being no single point of failure, meaning the network is always live, resistant to tampering, and precise. Additionally, Chainlink is extremely flexible in that it can connect to any external system. This was a key requirement for Metis, as we will need to pull educational data from a variety of different systems to obtain robust rankings on platform participants.
Metis-edu will use Chainlink oracles to perform a variety of functions.
- Verify student attendance rates when applying for a perfect attendance incentive. When students receive a 100% attendance rate in their courses, they can receive a partial course refund given to them in MTS tokens.
- Supply course enrollment rates, student satisfaction, and other important information like course pass rates on-chain. In doing so, Chainlink oracles can help create an index for educational providers where students/parents can make data-informed choices on their learning providers. Since educational institutions, individual tutors, and course instructors will be represented on the blockchain as a dynamic NFT, the data supplied by Chainlink data will directly determine the value of their NFTs.
